Yes, it’s spring, a time when we turn our heads to beautiful growing things and the soon to be coming of summer. We’re fed the optimism of April showers bring May flowers, but when those “showers” end up flooding your basement for weeks at a time, it’s not always easy to imagine dancing spring flowers in green meadows.

Edna St. Vincent Millay has been one of my favorite poets since I first read “The Ballad of the Harp Weaver” when I was in the 8th grade. She’s not always cheerful, but her words strike a chord in me. And since the heavy winds and crazy rain have flooded my basement again, I felt it was appropriate. I’ll be sharing more from Millay later in the month, but here’s a small sample to kick us off. I hope you’ll come to love her work as much as I do.
