We have waltzed through 2023.
It's mostly been smooth.
The rest of the world 
may seem to have 
thrown itself into a frantic Rave,
but we've managed to glide through
with a constant 1-2-3-1-2-3,
taking most of the turns 
without stepping on too many toes.
We began the year 
with a dream vacation,
dancing to whale song and swaying palms,
as we celebrated birthdays and retirement.
As the year neared its end,
we reveled in the joy 
of our daughter's princess wedding.
It was a beautiful day,
as close to perfect as any day could be.
The year drew to a close,
Thanksgiving and Christmas 
filled with family,
love holding us close;
we look forward to what the new year will bring.
It seems fitting that the final day of 2023
is 12-31-23,
1—2—3—1—2—3.
It's fine pace, smooth and lilting,
easy to follow.
Let us waltz into the new year
with that lilting joy in our hearts.
May it lift us up and
ease us through the difficult turns
when the ballroom seems too chaotic.
