Love Is Constant

In romantic visions of love
couples stroll along the beach together,
always holding hands,
while watching peaceful sunsets.
But love is rarely so peaceful;
nor is it sandy beach,
that fast erodes with every storm.

True love is persistent and relentless
as the ocean waves that crash the shore.
Real love is sturdy and stalwart,
as unyielding as craggy coastal cliffs
that fight tempestuous seas;
it’s as determined and courageous
as the lighthouse beacon
searching through the dark
to guide the lost home to safe harbor.

There is an endless variety
of love’s shades and depths,
each has its merit and value.
But true love is constant:
a priceless treasure
to be cherished forever.
