Intelligent Response

In this changing world
I don't know how to respond.
If I say nothing
when I'm exploding inside,
that's a response, isn't it?

When I choose to speak
it's because I've lost control.
My frustration with
stupidity around me
exceeds its limitations.

I don't like conflict
especially without end.
Listen with your brain,
always keep your heart open
or nothing will be resolved.

  1. Very rarely have I regretted something I decided not to say in response to stupidity. I’ve come to realize that intelligent responses to stupidity most often go ignored, or, even worse, invite more stupidity. It’s tempting to engage, but banging your head against a brick wall is, IMO, masochistic. Especially (but not limited to) with social media interactions.

    1. Linda,
I understand exactly what you’re saying, and I DO try not to engage with stupidity. Sometimes it’s really hard and I give myself a pat on the back when I manage to scroll by without engaging. But there are times… (eye roll)
