Thinking in Color

You see the world in black and white.
It's a dark place, even though you claim
black is not your color.
I don't know why it appeals to you so.
The world I live in is alive with color,
every shade of the rainbow and beyond.
Pastels and vibrant neon,
colors that swirl and dance and blend,
yet each is glorious in its own right,
tripping the light fantastic.
I see life and things to be discovered.
Don't you realize black is the absence of light?
Would you take away the sun and leave us
to freeze to death in the dark?
Is your soul so sinister
you cannot bear the echoes of laughter and light?
The world is reaching out to you,
hands dipped in the universe's finger paint.
Take hold and create the cosmos
where all the colors are visible
between the black and the white.
