The Best of Times
Yes, I know I already published a post for today. And no, I’m not pulling an April Fool’s prank. It is Poetry Month and that means the PAD (poem a day) challenge is in effect. Since I’ll be offline for a while later in the month, I thought I’d share the poem I wrote for today.
One down, and as many as I can manage this month. I hope you like it.
The Best of Times
It was the best of times
but we didn’t know it.
We didn’t realize
time was racing by us
faster than a cartoon roadrunner.
We took the laughter for granted
and worried about the small stuff
that surfaced every day.
If someone said slow down,
life goes by in a blink,
we smiled and said we knew that.
But we didn’t.
Not really.
Not until we were here
looking back
and remembering
the best of times.

Happy Poetry Month!
So true. ❤️😊
Thanks, Rosemary!
Way cool — and sad — and true — wonderful start to the month…
Thanks so much, Judy. I’m so glad you enjoyed this one. Simple, sad, and true always get to me too.
Boy, so true! 🙂
Thanks, Linda. Those of us who reach a certain age get it in a way nobody really can when they’re young. It’s a little like when you’re pregnant and tired, and people say you only think you’re tired, wait till the baby comes. We nod and say, we know, but until you experience it, you really don’t.
