Cravings
What I crave depends
on when you ask me.
It might be silence to read
or a few extra minutes to finish a poem.
It might be a hot fudge and marshmallow sundae
with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
Often I long for an uninterrupted night's sleep
without multiple trips to the toilet,
and to have my 20/20 vision back.
I crave a house that cleans itself
because I am not up to the task.
Recently I've craved peace
from the barrage of insanity,
stupidity, and hate
in the modern world.
Some of those cravings are possible,
some might even happen,
and others are highly unlikely.
My needs are simple;
I don't want for much.
But what I wouldn't give to feel
as safe and loved
as when I was in your arms.
