“I don’t know anything with certainty, but seeing the stars makes me dream.” – Vincent van Gogh
The Starry Night is visible
through barred windows.
He goes there to dream,
to escape asylum walls,
and maybe the voices
that urge his destruction.
The sunflowers, irises,
and cherry blossoms
are beyond his grasp,
but the sky is within reach.
Floating above the world
in a sea of swirling blue,
the artist frees his soul
and finds moments of peace.
