The April PAD challenge is coming to a close. Tomorrow will be the final day and hopefully, I’ll manage to complete it again this year. As usual, there have been poems that felt forced, just following prompts, and trying to get something written. And then there are others where I can sit back and say, “I really like this one.” Rogue Wave is one of the latter. I hope you feel the same way about it that I do.
Rogue Wave
They say
you should never
turn your back to the ocean.
You might be blindsided by
a wave,
dragged
under the sea,
caught in the undertow,
never to see the shore again.
It’s true.
I know
it can happen.
I turned my back and you
stole my heart away just like a
rogue wave.
