The Value of a Safety Pin
Safety pins have been around
for hundreds, maybe thousands, of years.
They haven't always been called that,
and they haven't always
saved the day from a crisis.
For some they are jewelry
or pieces of art.
For others, a quick fix
for a split seam or falling hemline.
Some get creative—
they've even been used
to manage broken zippers
and clean clogged shower heads.
Mankind created a small miracle
when he created the safety pin.
I wish I had a safety pin,
big enough and strong enough
to bring the world together.

Whether you celebrate Easter or Passover, I wish you a blessed day.

If only it could be that simple, I wonder if a woman invented the safety pin? a woman invented duct tape.
Thanks, Cornelia!
Your comment got me curious so I checked. The patent for the safety belonged to Walter Hunt, circa 1859, so no, a women doesn’t get credit for this one…unless his wife badgered him into it. LOL
Nice! And a safety pin that size would be something to see.
It sure would be! Maybe it’s hiding out as a satellite floating amid the stars.
Thanks for reading!
Good one!
I wonder as a poet musician myself how you think of these ideas especially with your “poem a day ” project” PAD
Thanks, Michael!
The ideas don’t come regularly, sad to say, which is one of the reasons I enjoy doing the PAD. Those prompts are really helpful to me. Sometimes they’re not terribly inspiring, but often they make me think of how I can use them differently.
