Well, Damn…

I've stood strong for a long time, 
but I think they're wearing me down.
First I tell my friend,
if it makes you happy,
start listening to those Christmas carols you love.
Next, I barely winced when I found out
a family member put up their Christmas tree—
three weeks before Thanksgiving!.
Today, I found myself 
seriously looking at ordering Christmas cards.
I didn't order any. 
Not yet, anyway.
There's still hope for me, I guess,
as long as I don't start 
decorating or playing Christmas music
before Thanksgiving.
If that happens
all of the people I've been badgering for years
about their jumping the gun on Christmas
are going to have a field day
that I will never be able to live down.
For the time being, I think I'm safe,
but damn...
