The sun rose bright and golden, sparkling through leaves that only yesterday were summer's green, but now were a rainbow of autumn's reds, yellow, orange, and brown. I caught a breath of fall as I crunched through fallen leaves, and a chill breeze kissed my cheek. It's time to pull out the sweaters and recipes for soup and stews; time to curl up in a chair with a comfy blanket, and fall into a good book. Before too long there will be family gatherings filled with love, good food, and high hopes for the future. But for now I am content to watch the leaves drifting down and squirrels dancing through beams of sunlight.
