High On The Wall
From his perch on the wall
that surrounds the garden
he has a bird’s eye view
of the sun setting behind
the city skyline.
There is glaring beauty
in the glass skyscrapers
reflecting the end of day
that rivals morning dew
glimmering on rose petals
kissed by butterflies
and the summer sunshine.
High on the wall
he meditates in silent solitude
whether it’s better to stay safe
within his pretty prison,
where he has everything he needs,
plus this peaceful place
where he can watch the world go by,
or should he take a leap of faith,
spread his wings and fly
into the possibilities.
